About the Waterfall

Discover Khamush Waterfall in Kharmang, Gilgit Baltistan

Khamush Waterfall, also spelled Khamosh, is a hidden waterfall in Kharmang Valley, Gilgit Baltistan. Its name comes from the Urdu word for silent, a fitting name for a place known for its calm atmosphere. The water cascades over rocky cliffs into a crystal clear pool, surrounded by moss covered rocks and green vegetation.
From our resort it is about 102 km, roughly 3 hours by road, so it works best as a full day trip. Kharmang Valley lies about 120 km from Skardu and is also home to Manthokha Waterfall, Kharmang Fort and Mehdiabad Valley.
Kharmang became a district in 2015, with its headquarters at Tolti. Its name comes from Balti words for fort and abundant, from the era of Ali Sher Khan Anchan, who built many forts in the area.
